How to Import Your Makeup Spreadsheet into Vannie
Move your makeup inventory spreadsheet into Vannie. Prepare your columns, connect with an import code and review a small batch before importing the rest.
By Vannie
If you already keep a makeup inventory in a spreadsheet, you can bring those records into Vannie instead of typing every product again. The import connects a computer upload with your app account using a code.
Begin with a small batch. This gives you a chance to check shades, categories and dates before moving a larger collection.
Keep a copy of your original spreadsheet
Save a separate copy before changing columns or deleting rows. Your existing sheet may contain information that does not have a dedicated destination in the importer.
Use one product per row and one header row at the top. Separate the brand, product name and shade instead of combining everything into a single description.
For example, “Example Brand Cloud Blush Rose” is easier to map when split into Brand, Product name and Shade. The example describes a format, not a real product recommendation.
Use the current import template
Open vannie.app/import on your computer. The page offers an Excel or CSV template with example products.
The template includes columns for brand, product name, category, shade, purchase date, price, currency, store, notes, rating, opened date and expiry months. Follow the current template's required-field instructions.
Delete the example product rows before entering your own collection. In the Excel file, keep Products as the first sheet; the separate instruction sheet explains the fields.
Use an unambiguous date format such as YYYY-MM-DD. Keep the price numeric and the currency separate. If you do not know when you opened something, leave the date unknown rather than substituting the purchase date.
Connect the upload to your app
In Vannie, open Settings and find Import from Spreadsheet. Enter the eight-character code from the app on the computer import page.
The code pairs the session with your account. Use a code generated for the account you intend to import into. Avoid including it in public screenshots or sharing it with someone who is not helping with your import.
If the page reports that a code is no longer valid, follow the current pairing instructions in the app and try again.
Upload a small test file
Choose a few representative products: a palette, lipstick, foundation and skincare item. Include one product with a shade number and another with an opened date if you know it.
Upload the file, review how columns and values are interpreted, and resolve anything the interface asks you to check. Keep an eye on category matches and dates; a technically valid value can still be the wrong value for your product.
Follow the confirmation steps in the import flow, then check the results on your phone. Do not repeatedly submit the same batch just because you have not yet found an item.
Split a large collection into manageable files
The current importer accepts up to 100 products per file. For a larger collection, divide the rows into files of 100 or fewer and import them one after another.
Name batches clearly, such as “makeup-01” and “makeup-02,” and keep a simple record of which ones have been completed. This is especially helpful if you stop halfway through.
Check the live import page before preparing a large migration because limits and supported fields can change.
Check the collection before retiring your sheet
Compare several imported items with the original file. Confirm the names, shades, prices, currencies and opening information you depend on.
Keep your original spreadsheet as a reference while you settle into the app. Once the inventory is ready, start logging the products you actually use. Vannie for iOS and Android connects that collection with usage counts, Project Pan progress and empties.
